Kohei Take "The Shops in the World ーA world of shops: price comparisons with Japan"

During his travels around the world, Kohei Take has photographed small stores and shops throughout Africa, Asia and South America, always including a price comparison in Japanese Yen and US Dollars. Spanning subjects from a variety of cultures and regions, Take’s passion project examines the diversity and communicative nature of commerce around the world. As the internet and big-box stores continue to change how we buy and sell, we hope that these photos from all over the world may serve as an inspiration to reflect on the significance and color of local shopping streets and small businesses.

The exhibition is held in conjunction with Nuit Blanche Kyoto. Adding to the exhibition at DELTA / KYOTOGRAPHIE, photographs by Kohei Take will also be displayed in the arcades of the Demachi Masugata Shopping Street, featuring newly-created portraits of shopkeepers from the Demachi Masugata Shopping Street.

On October 1st at 15:00, we will welcome Kohei Take for a conversation with KYOTOGRAPHIE co-founder Yusuke Nakanishi, followed by “Music & Joy” held in collaboration with Cinematik Saloon at 17:00 (until approx. 21:00).
